Obituary for Patrick Rogers

Patrick John Rogers was born on 12th August 1958 and passed away peacefully on 17th November 2025 at the age of 67. Patrick was one of six children born to the late Rudolph and Marjorie Rogers. On 5th December 1985, he married Denise Rogers, and together they raised two children, Donna and Philip. Patrick began his working life as a mechanic for the Tristan Government before training as an electrician and later a plumber, a profession he continued until his retirement. He was also a dedicated fisherman for many years and treasured every opportunity to be out at sea. One of his greatest joys was sharing his knowledge and love of fishing with his son Philip and grandson Calvin. Patrick also enjoyed crafting small model Tristan longboats, a skill passed down to him by his late father. A kind, caring, and gentle man, Patrick was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His family meant everything to him and remained at the centre of his life. |

In 1961, at just three years of age, Patrick was evacuated to the United Kingdom with his family following the volcanic eruption on Tristan da Cunha. He later returned to the island, where he spent most of his life. Patrick touched the lives of many through his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Denise; his brothers, Ronald and Roy; his sister, Doreen; his children, Donna and Philip; his grandchildren, Calvin, Hannah, Holly, Alfie, and Jayden; and his many nieces and nephews. Patrick's love, kindness, and memory will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends. |
