MV Edinburgh May Passage News

From Cynthia Green

MV Edinburgh departed Cape Town about 5.30pm on Wednesday 11th May. The ship was still 172 miles from Tristan mid-morning on Wednesday 18th May on a slow passage and finally reached Tristan at 05.55 GMT on Thursday. Sea conditions prevented passengers or cargo off-loading so the vessel sought the lee of Inaccessible Island. Conditions were again rough on Friday 20th May but they improved to enable the vessel to anchor off Tristan on Saturday 21st May and passengers came ashore around midday.

Passengers were: Islanders Sandra & Deanna Rogers, Marion Collins, Lewis & Yvonne Glass, Conrad & Sharon Glass, Eric & Martha Glass, Felicity Glass and Finance Officer Chris Standing returning after leave.
