Tristan’s Blue Belt work showcased to Commonwealth leaders and promoted to UK schools

London Blue Belt event aboard the ship CEFAS Endeavour

Report and photos from Tristan Government UK Representative Chris Carnegy

On 17th April, as part of the Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting 2018, the Blue Belt team met with dignitaries from across the Commonwealth, to explain what is being done, working in partnership with the Overseas Territories, to deliver a 4 million km2 Blue Belt by 2020.

The event was held aboard the research ship CEFAS Endeavour, berthed next to HMS Belfast, where the team also had the pleasure of meeting with school children from across south London to spread the Blue Belt message. At the event, the Blue Belt team launched a new schools brochure, and copies were distributed to the children.

It is hoped additional copies will be delivered to pupils of St Mary's School, Tristan da Cunha in due course.
