Yacht SV Nemesis visits Tristan, 2nd March 2023

Report and photos by Kelly Green

The yacht SV Nemesis visited the settlement on Thursday 2nd March 2023. Like the Ray of Light and Nyamezelai last month, she was also returning from Cape 2 Rio 2023 race.

She arrived in the afternoon, and Shane Green and Andrew Green picked up the crew in the rescue RIB. Unfortunately, due to a light anchor and rather strong winds here, she could not stay too long. There were six on board but the captain stayed on the yacht. The five that came ashore again seem to have enjoyed their visit very much. They did a bit of restocking of supplies in the local canteen, had a quick lobster sandwich, and bought some stamps and souvenirs. They were also given a few lobster tails and a bag of potatoes.

They were able to purchase some diesel and fill some cans with water. It was a quick dash down to the harbour, where some refreshed their faces with the fresh Tristan water from watering hose. And then they were off.

We wish them a very safe trip onward to Capetown.
