MFV Edinburgh's August-November 2024 Voyage

Departure from Tristan

Unfortunately, sea conditions delayed the departure of the MFV Edinburgh as scheduled. She was unable to pump fuel, backload or take on passengers, so she sheltered in the lee of Inaccessible. However, the weather improved on Sunday 3rd November, and she finally left for Cape Town at about 2:00pm.

Passengers are: Islanders: James Glass (Chief Islander), and Leon Bredell; and visitor: Lance Collister.

Arrival at Tristan

After a difficult nine day voyage, the MFV Edinburgh arrived at Tristan around 10:00am on Friday 30th August 2024, but stormy weather and a 4.5 metre swell she had to shelter in the lee of Inaccessible island until Tuesday 3rd September, when passengers landed just after 9:00am and offloading commenced.

Passengers were:

Islanders: Conchita Repetto & Summer Swain, Graham Rogers, Jill Repetto, Leon Glass, Warren Glass, Gary & Rita Repetto, and Iris Green;

Non-islanders: Robert Pickering (Dentist), Dr. Silvio Morales Perez (Doctor), and Peter Foster (Head Teacher).

Departure from Cape Town

The MFV Edinburgh departed Cape Town on Wednesday 21st August 2024 at 9:00pm.
