Administrator Alex Mitham, who was one of those who attended the event said:

I would like to thank the Teachers, Children, Doctors and whole community for arranging this fundraising event. The children looked wonderful in their variety of costumes.

Cake sales are always popular, but this really was incredibly successful - the tables were buckling with a huge variety of Tristanian delights, but they soon went in record time!

It may be a small community, but it has a huge heart and the islanders are always keen to support worthwhile causes. This event yet again shows their kindness and generosity to those less fortunate.

Owing to its success, no doubt this will now become an annual event.

Congratulations to all those involved.

Children in Need

In the modern Tristan community families
can also tune into the BBC Children in Need TV show as they join others to support
the UK charity.

The event attracted old and young
and the photo left shows some

having helped children
many miles away
less fortunate
than those here.

We will publish details of the fancy dress competition, with more photos, and details of the total amount raised soon.
