Update from Administrator Sean Burns

Tristan da Cunha CrestKey points from a satellite phone received from Sean Burns by Chris Carnegy on Monday 4th November 2019.

The one damaged islander's home was repaired yesterday (Sunday 3rd December).

Repairs are underway in the Admin and Police buildings. Better weather is expected tomorrow (Tuesday) and it is hoped both will be weathertight again by the end of Tuesday.

Communications equipment was switched off as a precaution when the room housing it began to leak, and it was protected with plastic sheeting. It is hoped that links will be restored when things dry out in the next few days.

We add that family and friends should be reassured that everyone on the island is safe and ask them to be patient until normal communications are restored. We will report further news as soon as we receive it.
