Background

The Tristan da Cunha (TdC) police service is made up of one full time police inspector, two special constables and an administration officer. The police service has responsibility for police matters, customs, immigration, search and rescue and disaster management.

Crime is low on Tristan, but it does exist. There is a magistrate's court, which sits once or twice a year. A large part of policing on Tristan is focused on community support, but the role will involve investigations and preparation for prosecution, working closely with judicial colleagues in St Helena.

We are looking for an experienced officer who has extensive experience of community policing - if the experience is in an isolated rural and/or island environment, that would be an advantage. The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate resilience and initiative, and the ability to work in challenging circumstances.

Job Closing Date and Time

The closing date for applications is Friday, 31st December, 2021 at 4pm (UK time). Subject to clearance, the candidate will be expected to take up post in February or April 2022 subject to the shipping schedule and COVID quarantine regulations at that time.

Interview Date

Mid-January 2022 - to be confirmed.
