Tristan group tour Winchester's Peter Symonds College ahead of admission for Tristan students in 2017

Visits to Peter Symonds College

Initial visit to Peter Symonds College in August 2015

Photos from Robin Repetto

A first visit to the college was made on 12th August 2015 when Tristan Government UK Adviser Jim Kerr took Dawn and Robin Repetto, with their daughter Jade to look around the campus. The photos below show Jade, who is expected to be one of the first group of students to start at the college in September 2017. With Jade in the left photo are by staff member Kim Ottridge, Dawn Repetto and Jim Kerr.

As the visit was preliminary to the Tristan Government making a choice about sending students to the college, we chose not to publish anything in 2015. At the time Dawn gave this report on their day:

On Wednesday the 12th August Jim took us to visit the Peter Symmonds College. We were shown around by Kim Ottridge and were most impressed with the boarding houses, classes and facilities. This is truly a wonderful College and we hope the Island's young people will get the opportunity to attend. It is the type of facility which encourages independence, growth and learning, which I feel will be good for young islanders who lives quite a sheltered life. Jade made the visit along with us and when I asked her view she said 'I was most impressed with the College and what it has to offer. Every opportunity is at your doorstep here and the facility would be well suited to the island's young people. There is so much support you would never get the opportunity to feel homesick'.
