The Island Council was delighted to be joined by the new Governor HE Belinda Lewis during their September meeting.
Administrator Philip Kendall welcomes new Governor
"I am delighted to welcome our new Governor, Belinda Lewis to her role. She has joined us at a crucial time as we navigate the transition between fishing concessionaires and tackle serious budgetary issues. I was particularly pleased that the new Governor took time out of her busy schedule to talk to the Island Council on 17th September. Such an appearance so early in her tenure shows that although we are separated by 1,500 of ocean, the historic bond between us remains strong."
Chief Islander Ian Lavarello said:
"I had the opportunity to congratulate Belinda Lewis on the appointment of Governor of St Helena, Tristan da Cunha and Ascension during the Council meeting held on the 17th September on behalf of the Island Council and community. We would welcome her in the future if she has the opportunity to visit Tristan and I look forward to working with her during her term in office."
