Tristan represented at UK Overseas Territories Meeting
Report and photos from Tristan Government UK Representative Chris Carnegy
On 6th October, elected leaders and representatives from across the UK Overseas Territories gathered online to plan ahead for their summit meeting with UK ministers, scheduled for November.
The Joint Ministerial Council itself will also be an online event; it's expected to tackle the health and economic harms of the Covid pandemic, climate change and environmental protection, and a range of other issues of common concern to the Territories.

I deputised for Chief Islander James Glass at the 'pre-JMC', which helps to set the agenda for the main talks. A key issue for Tristan is the desire to build a more resilient economy, in part by reducing the need to import food and fuel. The meeting came on the day when UK prime minister Boris Johnson vowed to 'build back greener' after the pandemic, so it's hoped that our ambitions can be included in November's agenda and will be welcomed by the UK government.
