Queen's Day 2021
Reports and photos from Rachel Green, Fiona Kilpatrick, Kelly Green and Emil Pirzenthal
Queen's Day was held on Friday the 26th February 2021. This is a public holiday where we celebrate the Queen's Birthday. Tristan's Queen's Day is held in February or March to enable a produce show to be held in the austral late Summer/Early Autumn.
The gong sounded early morning to ensure that everyone knew Queen's Day was to be celebrated. Although the morning started with showers of rain, everyone was very happy that the weather improved as the day went on. St Mary's School is normally where Queen's Day is held. Morning competitions are held in the school hall and sport events, which are held in the afternoon, take place on the 'American Fence' situated just below the school. At 11am all entries to the competitions had to be submitted and at 12pm the judging took place. Everyone gathered in front of the school at about 2pm to take part in or watch the sport activities.
