St Mary's School Christmas Play 2009
Beauty and the Beast
Performed in the School Hall on Tuesday 16th December

Pictures and Report
from Education Adviser Jim Kerr

The school production played to a packed hall, with over 150 in the audience, on Tuesday 16th December, a day late as Monday was a fishing day! The children gave their best performance yet. Sale of tickets and donations from the audience raised a record £66 towards the school Christmas Party that took place this afternoon. Lots of sausages, biscuits and ice cream consumed and the usual party games.

The musical play, Beauty and the Beast had lots of humour, singing and dancing as well as acting. The children had learned their parts well and were word perfect on the night. They reacted well to the audience who picked up on the humour with much laughter and encouraged them with lots of applause. The evening was a great success and many people said that it was the best play for many years.

Jim gave a short speech at the end congratulating the children and thanking the staff for the amazing team effort (typical of Tristan) that led to the success of the evening. This year Tina Glass was the director, Anne Green took charge of props and scenery, Yvonne Glass organised costumes and Maria Swain helped with the music. Everyone helped each other and all were involved in back stage organisation. Jim also thanked Maria who has worked for several years at the school but will be moving to a new job in January and Caroline who will be retiring in May. Caroline has been involved with the school since the 1970s and worked in the old school building on the station.
