Tristan represented in COP26 UKOT meeting
Report and photos from
Tristan Government Environmental and Conservation Policy Officer Stephanie Martin
The Overseas Territories COP 26 delegation had an excellent meeting this morning with Lord Goldsmith and Fiona Clouder, Ambassador to Latin America and COP26 during the morning of Monday 8th November as the second week of the crucial environmental conference focussed on climate change got underway. The meeting was to discuss issues that are impacting all the OT’s highlighting how the OT’s are recognised for all they contribute to the UK’s environment goals, funding loss from Brexit and the DarwinPlus and Blue Belt programs.
Those attending were myself and the Minister's of Anguilla, BVI and Gilbrator. At the end, I managed to give Zac a Tristan knitted penguin by Dezi Repetto, my Tristan Tiddy. Zac said he loved it.
During the evening of Monday 8th November, I joined fellow Overseas Territories delegate Minister Quincia Gumbs-Marie of Anguilla to attend the FCDO Adaptation, Loss and Damage Evening Reception. There we met with Sir Philip Barton, the Permanent Under Secretary for FCDO and the Rt Hon Anne-Marie Trevelyan, the UK International Champion on Adaptation and Resilience for the COP26 Presidency and Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade.
