On 3rd November 2020, Chief Islander James Glass met by video call with fellow Overseas Territories leaders and the UK's OT minister Baroness Liz Sugg.

The meeting provided a chance to review the agenda for the 'virtual' Joint Ministerial Council that will link the Territories with the London government later this month.

James highlighted key issues for Tristan, including building a resilient economy and protecting the south Atlantic's precious environment.

2020 is the first year in which Tristan's internet connection has been strong enough to allow video calls: until now a 'face-to-face' meeting with a UK minister required a round trip to London lasting several months.
