Shirley's Hair Challenge - from Long to Gone
Report and Photos from Shirley Squibb
Shirley Squibb had her long locks cut off on the 4th October 2018 for the Little Princess Trust, which uses donated hair to make wigs for children who lack hair because of medical reasons. Shirley then went on to have her head shaved to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Shirley writes:
The charity fundraiser went very well yesterday with lots of support and generous donations from the community, SA Agulhas II visitors, and overseas.
Although they were both nervous, my cousin Mel Young successfully cut the hair at the "Welcome to Tristan" sign, and my friend Kelly Green did a great job of shaving my head.
Lots of spectators showed up to show their support and contributed to the "Brave the Shave" jar. As funds are still arriving I haven't yet a total, but am very pleased that I have already approximately £900.

Donations have now closed, and the final total was considerably higher. See the 'Result is In' page.
