Sean Burns takes over as Tristan's 21st Administrator

New Administrator Sean Burns arrives

Sean Burns arrived on 9th September 2010 aboard SA Agulhas and was sworn in to become Tristan da Cunha's 21st resident Administrator on 15th September.

Sean joined the FCO in 1978 and has done a range of jobs including management, consular, immigration, project management and HR. His previous job was HM Consul and Senior Management Officer in Seoul. Sean has also served in Tanzania, Antigua, Bangladesh, Senegal, Kenya and South Korea as well as stints back in London.
Sean's wife Marina is a qualified TEFL teacher and has spent the last 17 years teaching English and other skills in all of their previous postings. She has worked mainly for the British Council.

New Island Council's First Meeting

New Island Council Elected

Following Island Council Elections on Monday 19th March 2007,
the Island Council consists of the following elected members :
Chief Islander Conrad Glass ( Head of Police Department),
James Glass (Head of Agriculture and Natural Resources Department),
Lorraine Repetto and Iris Green of the Finance Department,
Postmaster Ian Lavarello and Lillie Swain also from the Post Office,
Dereck Rogers the Agricultural & Veterinary Officer,
and Robin Repetto, an electrician working for PWD.
In addition Administrator Mike Hentley has appointed three former Chief Islanders to join the new council:
Lewis Glass, Anne Green and Harold Green
