Virtual delegates at the UKOT- Shadow-Ministerial Team

On 5th November 2020, I led for the UK Overseas Territories in highlighting their unique and precious environments to members of the Westminster opposition Labour party's shadow-ministerial team.

The event was hosted online by shadow OTs minister Stephen Doughty MP, and attended by his colleagues who hold briefs in environment, defence and development.

My role was to highlight the OTs' remarkable environments - home to the planet's fifth-biggest marine estate, a third of the world's albatrosses and a quarter of its penguins, and host to 90% of the species found in the UK realm. I focused on issues around conservation funding, and reported on the forthcoming announcement of new marine protection within Tristan's vast ocean zone. The shadow-ministerial team showed an enthusiastic interest in OT affairs, asking detailed questions about topics such as protection from illegal fishing.
