After the island's children had been Trick or Treating around the village, a Halloween party was held for them in Prince Philip Hall.

By Kelly Green

Sam Low (social worker), helped by Hélène Jaumotte, Randall Repetto, Dr Silvia Paz and Kelly Green, organised a Halloween party for the island children on Saturday 31st October 2020.

The children met at the Prince Philip Hall at 5.30pm. The hall was decorated with spiders and spiders' webs, candle lit pumpkin, streamers, ghosts, skeletons and even a very scary looking replica old lady holding a bowl of sweets! Members of the community provided the drinks and snacks for the children; there were tons and tons! People on Tristan are so creative! We had ghost meringue, mummy sausages, spooky cupcakes and much much more! The children started the evening by trick or treating around the village! So many people wanted the children to come and visit them; we had to split up into 2 groups, East and West. Even so it took well over an hour to visit and scare the village! The children's bags were filled with goodies!

After that the children return to the spooky spectacular hall for some refreshments and some quirky games! First up was the 'eating your way through worms (cooked spaghetti) to retrieve a sweet', followed by a screaming contest measured by a decibel meter borrowed from the factory, then a mummy wrapping competition, the best scary dancer and the evening ended with a ghost piñata!

The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and massive thank yous to all who contributed and made the evening super spooky and exciting. A huge thank you to Sam for organising it!
