Here are a few more photos of the holidays after New Year, together with a little recap of the break.

The Christmas holidays are now ended and everyone is back to work. It was a very mixed three week break. The weather was very changeable, from lovely summer days to heavy rains, with the waterfalls running and some flooding at Hottentot Gulch.

Sadly there were two deaths over this period which tinged the holiday with sadness, especially with the passing of Tina who was still in the prime of her life. Tina was a Tourism Colleague and had a very bubbly and happy nature. She was well liked with the visitors and always had a smile for them. Over the years she has produced some very delicious food within Café da Cunha and no one could do freshly baked rolls quite like her. Tina will be sadly missed by all her work colleagues and the Department.

We also had two ships visit. The RMS St Helena came on her last voyage, and although weather wasn't brilliant we managed a landing on the last day, and it was great to welcome visitors. The MS Europa 2 decided to do a quick call as well, but unfortunately weather was against her and she sailed right past. We hope to see her again in the future.

After all of these happenings the rest of the New Year holidays were very quiet. A few people went off to the Patches to do some camping, while others spent days fishing, swimming, braaing and cooking in the great outdoors, when weather allowed.

We'd like to wish everyone all the best for 2018, and hope it's a happy and prosperous one.
