Report and photos of the visit of the sailing ship Bark Europa
to the Tristan Islands on 13th - 14th April 2016
from Shirley Squibb with additional photos from Kelly Burns

The Bark Europa arrived early morning on 13th April and passengers started coming ashore around 8:30am. There were spells of sunshine, a slight breeze and a calm harbour so not a bad day.

The day started with a hike to the to the 1961 Volcano ending at the Thatched House which was already open for visitors.

Tours that followed throughout the day were the Settlement, school, fishing factory and Potato Patches. The day ended with a game of golf and last boat was at 5pm.

Bark Europa carried a crew of 16 and 40 passengers.
Photos above show passengers boarding a RIB left and being welcomed at Calshot Harbour.

Kelly Burns visited the Bark Europa in the afternoon and took these images around the sailing vessel.
Poor weather prevented the Bark Europa's Tristan visit continuing for a second day and the sailing ship therefore departed at 09.30 GMT on 14th April bound for Cape Town.
