Report from Cynthia Green

MFV Geo Searcher departed Cape Town on Thursday 24th August 2017 at 7.30pm and arrived at Tristan on Thursday 31st August at 5pm. Passengers offloaded by raft at 7.30pm were: Islanders Barney Swain, Marie Repetto, Felicity and Kieran Glass; Dentist Penny Granger and her daughter Elika, Teacher Victoria Stapleton, Ovenstones Engineer Craig Bergh and Christain Gerber.

MFV Geo Searcher began the outer islands fishing season around Inaccessible, Nightingale and Gough Islands once cargo was safely off-loaded on 7th September. The Tristan fishing season officially started on 1st July 2017, but poor sea conditions prevented islanders venturing out in their power boats until good weather arrived at last on Monday 28th August. Hopefully the 2017-2018 season will now go well.
