MV Glory departs Tristan after extended offloading period

MV Glory finally departed Tristan at 8.30pm on Boxing Day, 26th December 2016. The ship first arrived on 4th November, but there have since only been 11 days when sea conditions have been suitable for off-loading the materials and components for the new Camogli Healthcare Centre.

MV Geo-Searcher departing Gdańsk on 6th December 2016

The new fishing vessel due to enter service around the Tristan da Cunha Islands in 2017 left the Gdańsk shipyard in Poland bound for Cape Town on 6th December. The journey, from the Baltic Sea, via the North Sea, English Channel and Atlantic Ocean is expected to take a month, with an expected arrival in Cape Town on 5 January. She will undergo some final refit work in Cape Town before undertaking her maiden voyage to Tristan, planned to be in March 2017.

The vessel here is navigating the Motlawa River, proceeding to the Leniwka, a branch in the delta of the nearby Vistula River which connects with the Baltic Sea.

On 23rd December MV Geo-Searcher was sailing approximately 300kms off Sierra Leone at  7° N 15.7° W, and on schedule to arrive on time.

The offshore patrol vessel HMS Clyde sailed by Tristan da Cunha on Saturday 17th December 2016. Unfortunately, she was unable to land anyone, due to bad weather.
