Updated 15th March

Early on Saturday 12th March the gong was rung by Chief Islander Ian Lavarello to announce the annual Queen's Day. Planned for Friday 11th March the decision to delay as weather was poor was the right one as Saturday was dry, warm with plenty of sunshine.
The first event was the Fishing Competition for adults and children.
Later during the morning the usual competitions were held at St Mary’s School for best flowers, vegetables, cookery and art.

The principal raffle prize was a free trip to Cape Town sponsored by Ovenstones and won by Norman Glass.
