100 Words from Tristan da Cunha on show in London

Naomi Ellis publishes book

100 Words a Month From Tristan da Cunha

following collaboration with Tristan islanders -
see it at the Lethaby Gallery until 11th March 2017

100 Words a Month From Tristan da Cunha is Naomi’s first publication.

Naomi has been in touch with editor Richard Grundy since May 2015. Through contacts with Tristan islanders, she built up a written dialogue that she has presented in her first publication called ‘100 Words a Month From Tristan da Cunha’ which is a limited edition book of ten copies printed in a handsome A4 bound cover with a dedication - ‘For All The Remote Islanders’.

Naomi has sent one copy to the editor and a second copy will be sent to Tristan da Cunha.

She may offer the remaining eight copies for sale and is in discussion about a second edition, possibly with more graphic content. Presently this is a very limited bespoke art project.

The book will on first display as part of the Altered Realities Exhibition at the Lethaby Gallery, Central Saint Martins, 1 Granary Square, London N1C 4AA from 22nd February–15th March 2017. See details below.

Introduction to the Exhibition

2017: What is going on? We stand at a hyperreal crossroads: a virtual reality in one direction, augmented dead ahead, and a post-truth, post-reality actualities another.

Against this backdrop Altered Realities has been formed. Comprised of works submitted via an open call to students, staff and alumni of Central Saint Martins, it comprises creative responses that acknowledge and respond to the altered states & twisted realities in which we find ourselves.

Within the exhibition, a social space will host to discussions, workshops and talks, aided by cold brewed coffee, ensuring participants leave refreshed as well as recalibrated.
