MV Edinburgh's first 2017 trip departs from Cape Town on 14th January

MV Edinburgh departed Cape Town on Saturday 14th January 2017 at 1pm as scheduled. Passengers on board were:

Islanders Herbert & Barbara Glass and Nigel Lavarello, Ovenstones Factory Manager Erik Mackenzie with Clinton da Bod (who will become the new Factory Manager), Nurse Rachel van Heerden, Dr. Carl van Ramesdonk with his wife Sonette, daughter Kaitlin and son Jean Jacques, and Katrine Herian who will work with the Tristan Conservation Department.

The Edinburgh arrived on Friday 20th January and passengers came ashore during the afternoon. The ship will proceed to the outer islands of Gough, Inaccessible and Nightingale for fishing. The ship is scheduled to depart Tristan on 23rd February and arrive back in Cape Town on 1st March.

On 18th March the new Ovenstones vessel MV Geo-Searcher is scheduled to leave Cape Town for her inaugural Tristan voyage, taking over from MV Edinburgh as the principal fishing vessel. Nevertheless the reliable Edinburgh will continue Tristan passages, carrying passengers and frieight to the islands, and being available to fish if needed.
